Friends have arrived!

The mailman brought two new friends for the baby today. I hope they all get along.

6 months

While I don't expect the kid to be born on exactly March 20th, it is still the "due date" and is a date that is 6 months from today.

I bought the kid a few stuffed animals on Amazon yesterday. Hope it likes 'em. Once the shipment arrives we will have:
1 pacifier (blue) - by accident, I swear
1 hat
1 pajamas
1 Grover
1 Big Bird

We've got a lot of stuff to get done in the next 6 months!

150 BPM

We had our first appointment with our OB this morning. Normal stuff, nothing really exciting. We did get to hear the heartbeat again, and were informed that it was 150 beats per minute.
"Looks like it might be a girl", is what our OB said. This is now the 3rd piece of junk science that has told us we should plan on painting our nursery pink.
The fallacy of the "above 140 bpm=GIRL, below 140 bpm=BOY" can be found here:
Fetal Heart Rate and Gender Prediction
We'll keep this on the blog, unless it is born a boy (we wouldn't want him to think he was meant to be a girl).

There's always room for JELL-O

Tonight, while watching "30 Rock", Bobbie Jo looked at Alec Baldwin's character (in the hospital eating jello), and exclaims "I hate jello, but I want to take his!".

and off to the store I went.

Introducing Mortimer the Fetus

At 12 weeks and 2 days, we had a brief appointment and got to see some incredible pictures of the baby. It was swinging its arms around, and even "looked" at us a few times. We have decided that "Mortimer" is an acceptable name for this little sexless thing until it escapes the womb (or at least I [James] have, but I do most of the posting so I get to refer to it as I like).

Mortimer is just shy of 3" from head to butt, has five fingers on each hand, a spine, a beating heart, legs, and already is demonstrating signs of hyper-activity.

After seeing the little thing squirming about, this is now completely real. There is no doubt about it anymore. It's not just gas, it's an actual little baby.

A little Mortimer.

Email Subscription

I realize that not everyone understands RSS feeds, so I've added an email subscription option. If you want to be notified of all new postings, enter your email address in the box to the right of the page and an email will be sent to you whenever we make any updates.

If you have any issues with the system please let me know, but I think it should work out pretty well.
