A few weeks ago (on the day of his Birthday Party no less) I asked Max if his name was "Fred". He agreed that his name was, in fact, "Fwed". He told everyone who asked him his name, that his name was "Fwed".
It took Bobbie Jo almost 3 days to get him to realize his name was actually Max. It took daddy exactly 3 seconds to again convince him his name was "Fred".
I'll be sleeping in the garage soon, I think.

The search for dimes
I'm not sure when it happened, or what prompted it, but one day Max heard the jingle of change in someone's pocket and asked for their "dimes".
Many visitors (and many dimes) later, Mickey is almost half full. Max will "pull" the giver of the dimes up to his room, and ask for help getting the bank off of the shelf, so that he can give them to Mickey.
I asked Max (probably hunting for a cute story),"What does Mickey eat?". I was sure the answer would be"dimes", I was wrong.
Mickey eats "food".

Guess who peed in the potty?
Today when Bobbie Jo and Max got home from a trip to Target, Max told her he needed to pee. She asked him if he wanted to sit on the potty and he said "yes, the big potty". Bobbie Jo held him on the big potty; he strained a bit and farted.
She moved him to his own little green potty and told him if he peed in the potty that he could have a cookie. Nothing happened. She stood him up and he started to pee and she quickly sat him back down.
A big deal was made about this grand accomplishment, and together they poured the pee in the big potty and flushed it down. She told him that if he said when he had to pee or poop, and he did it in the potty that we would give him a cookie. She felt like he really understood. This wasn't so hard.
30 min later, he pooped in his diaper.

another milestone
Eight minutes ago, as I showered and Max attempted to nap, I heard a loud thud. Max had escaped from his crib.
We are now thoroughly screwed!

Lots to update
It's been over a month since our last post, and we had a lot that we could have posted about then. We're still working on his eating, but he is learning and talking quite a bit now. He repeats the last word of most of our sentences, and has surprised us with some "colorful" language that we have no idea where he could have picked up!
The biggest development is how much stuff he knows. We were please to discover over Christmas that he knew almost every one of his letters. He now (a full month shy of his second birthday) knows all of his letters (and the sounds they make), his numbers 1-10 (and can count them with assistance), his colors, and his shapes (he loves saying "octagon").
Over the past month, he's also learned his name ("Mucks"), the word "Flag" (no more "ga"), and the motherload-"Flower". We thought we'd be thrilled to never hear the word "baby" again. It was a bit sad when those "babies" became flowers.
We're loving all of these new developments and can't wait to see what's next.
Here's some video of Max's Alphabet. It's long (about 5 minutes), but it's adorable.
