Go Team Yellow!
Max's first season of soccer is coming to an end and Team Yellow has been a lot of fun to be a part of. At Max's second practice I "accepted" the prestigious position of Assistant Coach, which on a team of 4-5 year olds translates to "Junior Cat Herder".
It was great watching the kids learn and get better week after week. Max enjoyed weekly practice and the games but mainly because he made some new friends and got to spend time with them every Tuesday and Saturday.
We'll keep working on our Soccer (and listening) skills over the course of the summer. T-Ball starts in just a few months.

The Goat
Shortly after Lily was born (while still in the hospital) she earned a nickname.
When she was hungry she would try to eat everything her little mouth could reach; usually her blanket or her shirt. I decided that she was a goat - a "Lily Goat". Over two months later and the nickname still stands.
While I refer to her as "The Goat" or "Baby The Goat", Max prefers her proper name "Lily Goat". He will tell guests that "Lily Goat" is sleeping.
Phase one of the "render my daughter undateable plan" appears to be a success.

Wally The Fish
One afternoon I made a quick comment to Max along the lines of "if you're good, maybe I'll sing you a song about a fish who lives in an apartment". Stupid me, I thought it would never be mentioned again.
That night, as I put Max to bed, he requested his "fish that lives in an apartment song". After a futile attempt to talk him out of it, I made up a terrible song. He was quite disappointed. He asked for me to 'make it a better song'
Below is the 'better' version.

Wally the Fish
There was a fish named Wally
He didn't go to school
He had his own apartment
And it was pretty cool
He'd clean it on the weekends
The kitchen and the den
He'd get help from his buddy
An albatross named Glenn
Wally's little sister
Sweet Esmeralda Lee
She slept not in her bedroom
But in a maple tree
The three of them went fishing
One evening in July
They caught a yellow lobster
Who only had one eye
This song is pretty silly
It doesn't make much sense
But what were you expecting
From fish in apartments
