The demise of another camera

After a few days of searching, it has become aparent that our camera has vanished. Christmas morning 2011 is in our memories, but the photographic evidence of it is gone.

Max was very excited for Santa this year, we made him cookies and he rewarded Max with loads of great presents.

For the record, Max received (from Santa and his awesome grandparents):
  • Snowshovel
  • Cars 2 playset
  • Santa Clause Doc Hudson car
  • Reindeer Tow Mater car
  • A robotic Claw
  • Tinker Toys
  • Toy Story Garbage dump playset (He LOVES this thing and likes to 'burn things' in the incenerator.
  • Swimming fish aquarium night light
  • Lots of Dr Suess learning books
  • Duplo blocks
  • And other stuff we can't even remember anymore.
Oh yeah, Grandma Pat also gave him her iPad. We now have a child who says "I want to play with my iPad".

Hope your Christmas was as magical as ours was.

Secrets

On the Sunday before Christmas (8 days ago), Max and I were talking about making ornaments for people and the importance of not telling them (keeping it a secret).
Me: "Max, can you do that? Keep a secret and not tell them we made them ornaments?"
Max: "Yep, I can do that. Like Mommy bought slippers for me to give to you for Christmas. She told me to keep it a secret and not tell you".
Me: "Ok. Yep, just like that"

Max's first Christmas Concert

The only thing worse than watching someone else's kid's Holiday Concert, is watching a video of someone else's kid's Holiday Concert.

I wanted to get a family picture taken before our new addition shows up, so the three of us made a quick trip to Target to get some pictures taken. Here's a few of the better ones.

Potty Update #14

I've given up on updating the blog with potty updates. Looking over the vast number of "Success" posts is getting frustrating.

As of today, we're doing pretty good, and have been for quite a while. Though next week (or month) could be a different story.

Max-if your ever hear your parents talk about "how easy Max was to potty train", please point us back here.

Science

"Daddy? Pee is all of the stuff that you drink that your body doesn't need, right? And poop is all the food you eat that your butt doesn't need, right?"

Yup

"Daddy, why do you think pee is yellow and poop is brown?"

Mommy works at the hospital, go ask her.

First day of [Pre]School

Today Mommy and I dropped Max off for his first day of preschool at Canterbury Creek. He was incredibly excited, having talked about "going to school" for as long as we can remember.

Bobbie Jo secretly hoped he would be a bit nervous, being handed off to a stranger. Unfortunately for her, that couldn't have been further from the truth.

Meeting my Nephew

On June 20th, Bobbie Jo and Max dropped me off at the Airport. I was heading to Arizona for 5 days to meet my nephew Jack.

The only immediate family member yet to meet him, I spent the majority of my vacation relaxing with Brother Ben and Nephew Jack. He's a fun kid, and now at 4 months his personality is starting to shine.

Ben and I hit Tempe and Phoenix on Saturday, and I got to see another Ballpark; Chase Field, Home of the Arizona Diamondbacks (and 2011 All Star Game).

This picture was too cute to not include

The morning I left, I was able to read the book I bought him just a few weeks earlier - "Go the F&@K to Sleep!".

I can't wait to see you again kiddo. Hopefully soon!

The results are in....

....and she's 4 weeks pregnant with ONE BABY!

Another ultrasound was scheduled for weeks from today, but the doctor is confident that on (or near) March 6, 2012, we should have a baby!

3? 2? 1?

On Wednesday, June 15th Bobbie Jo had THREE "extremely viable" embryos implanted. The decision was left up to us, and we both determined that putting all three in would give us the best shot at growing our family.

Almost two weeks later, on Sunday the 26th, Bobbie Jo had a positive pee test.
On Monday the 27th, a positive blood test.
Wednesday the 29th, another positive blood test (the results were "good", but slightly below the levels the fertility specialist likes to see).

We're expecting to hear the results of this morning's blood test in the next few hours. Bobbie Jo is extremely anxious; I'm expecting good news.

If the results come back and look good, our ultrasound is on the 18th of July. That's when we find out how much bigger our family may become.

Stay tuned.......

Grade A, Extra Large

Apparently this is what they look like before they start scattering their toys all over the place. The third must be hiding.
All three were graded as "2+" (that's good).

Building a baby

About a year ago, Bobbie Jo and I started working with a fertility center here in GR. While we had been very lucky when Max was conceived, his potential sibling was not going to happen without some "outside influence".
We went through the maximum number of basic treatments (involving hormones and artificial insemination), without a single positive test.

A few months ago, we made the decision to attempt IVF (In-Vitro). This procedure involves a rigorous hormone treatment meant to coax Bobbie Jo's body into creating as many quality eggs as possible. All of the viable eggs will be harvested, and each will individually be fertilized in the lab.
Once fertilized, the doctor will determine how many of these should be implanted to give us the best chance of getting Max the little brother (or sister) he has repeatedly asked us for.

That gets us caught up to yesterday....

Yesterday Bobbie Jo had 5 viable eggs retrieved. This morning we were informed that 3 of them "took". Tomorrow, Bobbie Jo will have some, or all, of these implanted.

Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We'll keep you updated as best we can.

-J and BJo

Potty Update

The journey that began in November of 2009 (The Journey Begins....) seems to officially have been completed.
Max has been using the potty, and living in underpants for a few months now. It looks like we're through the woods.
Way to go kiddo!

Happy 3rd Birthday Big Boy!

Happy Birthday to the kid who doesn't like being called "little guy" anymore.

Every week is a new adventure, and better than the last. Watching you grow and learn has been the most amazing experience that I ever thought possible. Thank you for being such an awesome kid.

We love you!
